Guiyang to invest in cross-border e-commerce development

Updated: 2019-03-06

Guiyang, capital of Guizhou province, is increasing its efforts to help foreign trade enterprises speed up their engagement in overseas markets, and set  to give new competitive advantages.

Chen Yan, deputy secretary of the CPC Guiyang Committee and Guiyang mayor, made the remarks during the two sessions earlier this year.

“Guiyang will take the construction of the national cross-border e-commerce comprehensive trial area as an opportunity to integrate online trade and the competitive industries, and facilitate Guiyang’s inclusive, high-quality development," Chen said.

A full-service cross-border e-commerce development model will be established, covering bonded imports, direct mail imports, general exports and special area export, he added.

In 2018, Guiyang's total import and export revenue reached $3.49 billion, an increase of 15.2 percent year-on-year, accounting for over 46 percent of the total in the province.

Guiyang is able to use its advantages in big data to provide comprehensive services for cross-border e-commerce development. With an online integrated service platform and an offline industrial park, the city ensures the favorable development environment for the construction of the cross-border e-commerce comprehensive trial area.

Starting from this year, the city will earmark at least 100 million yuan every year for the trial area’s development.

Guiyang aims to boost its annual cross-border e-commerce revenue to more than $1 billion by 2020, Chen said.
