Guiyang to address weak links in nighttime economy

The nighttime economy has accelerated Guiyang's consumption recovery, improved people's living and shopping experience, and demonstrated the city's high level of opening-up.

Meanwhile, there are some problems in this kind of economy in terms of business types, management approaches and shopping environment.

Yunyan, Nanming and Guanshanhu districts boast the most robust nighttime economies in Guiyang, while it has been found that the development of emerging businesses there has lagged behind. Li Yonggang, an economics professor at Guizhou University of Finance and Economics, believes that performances, including music festivals and dramas, and themed art and fashion exhibitions are the most attractive activities to young people in the nighttime economy.

Developing the nighttime economy is a systematic process, and the Guiyang bureau of commerce has released proposals on regulating the operation of catering and retail businesses.

In addition, the nighttime economy can prosper only when adequate pandemic prevention and control measures are put in place. Officials from the Guiyang government said that they will give full play to all kinds of services and tourism platforms to strengthen information guidance on nighttime parking, transport and activities, and enhance corporate accountability.
