Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – and the nearby Guian New Area are continuing to focus on improving their levels of technological innovation and are widely said to have met with considerable success in this endeavor.

Last year, Guiyang made significant strides and it was ranked 25th among 97 innovative cities in China.

Since 2016, the Guiyang bureau of science and technology has provided research and development subsidies to businesses on 770 occasions – resulting in an increase in total social R&D investment from 3.27 billion yuan ($447.19 million) in 2015 to 8.73 billion yuan now. This is said to have further boosted the technological innovation vitality of businesses.

As an emerging enterprise in Guiyang, Guizhou Aerospace Linquan Electric Motor Co secured funding for 13 technology innovation projects in 2022 with a budget topping 34 million yuan.

That included 2.6 million yuan in support from the Guizhou provincial government and 1 million yuan from the governments of Guiyang city and the Guiyang High-tech Industrial Development Zone.

Now, Guiyang City and the Guian New Area are actively enhancing the quality and scale of high-tech enterprises and galvanizing the innovative spirit of their resident businesses.

To address the shortcomings of small and medium-sized technology enterprises, they've introduced a series of incentivized policies – such as issuing technology innovation vouchers to directly offset tech service expenses, thereby reducing R&D costs for businesses.

One of the companies benefiting from the tech innovation vouchers is Guizhou Huayang Automotive Parts Co.

Plans are for the company to upgrade its equipment for automation and to implement unmanned testing in product manufacturing – under the watchful eyes of visual monitoring and supervision.
