Guiyang continues upgrading consumption

The consumption market of Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, has seen a positive trend after the Spring Festival.

Two business streets in Nanming and Wudang districts opened to the public on Feb 24 and March 1 respectively, while existing business complexes have also diversified their consumption scenarios.

The Guiyang Mixc Shopping Mall, for example, has a total construction area of 100,000 square meters, and features sports brands, an IMAX cinema, family playgrounds, catering businesses and supermarkets. By continuously updating products, bringing in frontier shopping scenarios, and taking local tastes into consideration, the shopping mall has become a new landmark in Guiyang.

The nighttime economy has also played a part in this upward consumption trend. This sector has been booming in Wudang, Nanming and Baiyun districts, with throngs of people strolling among booths to buy snacks and novel commodities.

"This year, Guiyang's commercial departments at all levels have taken proactive actions to cater to the market demand, and have upgraded consumption through targeted measures," said an official from the Guiyang bureau of commerce.

The bureau plans to issue more consumer vouchers, guide business operators to roll out sales promotion and discount activities, carry out favorable policies regarding home appliances and new energy vehicles, and encourage local financial institutions to double down efforts on consumer finance.

Meanwhile, market entities are advised to work with e-commerce platforms, and promote sales driven by livestreaming and other emerging marketing strategies.
