Following the launch of its 2024 appliance trade-in program, Southwest China's Guizhou province has implemented innovative measures to facilitate convenient appliance trade-in and encourage appliance stores to offer additional discounts. These efforts have effectively boosted consumer enthusiasm for appliance upgrades, driving sales growth in the sector.

As of July 8, a total of 1,356 old appliances had been collected across the province, with a total of 623 consumers having received trade-in subsidies of 267,500 yuan ($36,818.16).

In June, the Department of Commerce of Guizhou Province collaborated with the Guizhou One Ma Platform to launch a dedicated QR code for convenient recycling, aiming to improve the recycling system for outdated appliances and encourage enterprises to participate in trade-in activities. The department also distributed promotional materials to over 80 counties and districts to further facilitate the recycling of appliances.

A total of 1,171 physical stores, including Haier, Midea, Suning, and JD, are currently taking part in the QR code initiative. Additionally, a total of 13 online brand stores, such as Skyworth, Hisense, and Xiaomi, have joined the Guizhou One Ma Platform, allowing consumers to benefit from trade-in policies both online and in-store.

Upon successfully replacing an appliance, consumers who purchase new products will receive tiered subsidies based on the final transaction price after all discounts have been applied. Meanwhile, some stores have introduced additional subsidy measures and promotional activities, which can be combined with the government's program to offer even greater savings to consumers.
