The 2024 Guizhou-Taiwan Economic and Trade Exchange and Cooperation Conference commenced in Guiyang, capital of Guizhou province, on Sept 3.

This year's conference attracted over 200 Taiwan entrepreneurs, experts, scholars, and representatives from various sectors.

Guizhou Governor Li Bingjun warmly welcomed the attendees and expressed his gratitude. He highlighted that the conference is expected to act as a catalyst for practical cooperation in modern agriculture, cultural tourism, wellness, and advanced manufacturing.

Li reaffirmed Guizhou's commitment to creating a world-class business environment to facilitate cooperation and development between the two sides, thereby strengthening the bonds between compatriots on both sides of the Strait.

Wu Xi, deputy director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, encouraged Taiwan businesses and compatriots to integrate into the Chinese mainland's economic framework to promote cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation, contributing to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Hsia Li-yan, vice-chairman of the Kuomintang, expressed hope that both sides will fully utilize the conference to continually build consensus, advance integration, and promote mutual development.

Lee Cheng-hung, chairman of the Association of Taiwan Investment Enterprises on the Mainland, pledged to encourage more Taiwan businesses and enterprises to explore investment opportunities in Guizhou.

An investment promotion presentation was also delivered during the opening ceremony. The conference featured special sessions and investment inspections focused on key sectors such as agriculture, cultural tourism, forest healthcare, traditional Chinese medicine, and homestays.

Since its inception in 2013, this conference has evolved into a pivotal event for cross-Strait exchanges in China's western region.
