Guiyang and Gui'an see strong tourism in 2024

Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province have become a popular holiday destination for domestic and international tourists.

In 2024, a total of 217 roadside concerts were launched with over 1.8 million live audience members, over seven billion online impressions, and coverage by over 400 foreign media outlets. Additionally, 10 large-scale concerts and 17 music festivals were held, attracting over 400,000 visits and driving consumption to more than 250 million yuan ($34.25 million).

With approximately 3,000 participants engaging in special performances, the grand ethnic parade garnered over one billion online impressions. During the summer resort season, Guiyang and Gui'an attracted a total of 180,000 visits, an 80 percent year-on-year increase, with around 84,700 visitors staying for over 30 days.

Throughout the year, Guiyang and Gui'an saw agreements signed on an additional 57 cultural and tourism projects, with a total contract value of 3.50 billion yuan, and 4.14 billion yuan in funds allocated. The city has over 8,200 major market entities related to tourism.

Events such as fireworks seasons, flower viewing seasons, summer resort seasons, and hot spring seasons were held throughout the year, while various thematic districts and shopping centers were opened. It is estimated that the city received a total of 167 million domestic tourists in 2024, a 14 percent year-on-year increase.

In 2024, Guiyang and Gui'an received 34.3 million overnight tourists, a 10 percent year-on-year increase. The number of foreign tourists reached 190,000, a 140 percent year-on-year increase, setting new records for tourism throughout the year.
