As the core region of the National Big Data (Guizhou) Comprehensive Pilot Zone, Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area have made remarkable strides in their digital economy over the past three years.
By advancing computing power, data management, applications, and industrial integration, the areas have demonstrated impressive growth and resilience.
Guiyang and Gui'an have developed a robust data center cluster, focusing on computing power, algorithms, data, and networks. The cluster now boasts a computing power scale exceeding 81 EFLOPS, with intelligent computing making up over 98 percent of this capacity.
Guiyang and Gui'an have also enhanced the construction of high-quality data sets and public data sharing, amassing over 6,500 data catalogs and 4,800 data resources. The area has attracted companies in sectors such as intelligent driving, healthcare, and cultural tourism, including notable enterprises such as Chinasoft International and Star & Long March.
In 2024, the data annotation industry generated revenue of 280 million yuan ($39 million), a 44 percent year-over-year increase, with employment in the sector growing by 107 percent.
Guiyang and Gui'an are promoting digital governance, digital lifestyles, and industrial digitization by developing exemplary applications and regularly hosting digital application scenario release events.
They have facilitated collaborations between Huawei and companies like Guizhou Tyre, Guotai Liquor, Phosphate Group, and Guizhou Power Grid to develop and implement large-scale model scenarios.
Guiyang and Gui'an are also accelerating the construction of a "one hardware, one software" industrial ecosystem. The "hardware" component focuses on the electronic information manufacturing industry, which achieved a total industrial output value of 6.9 billion yuan in 2024, with a growth rate of 168.3 percent.
The "software" component pertains to the software and information technology service industry, with a primary focus on cloud services. The area has attracted 55 Huawei Cloud ecosystem enterprises, including Chinasoft International. In 2024, revenue from large-scale internet services, software, and information technology services reached 75.99 billion yuan, growing by 20.62 percent.
