Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, marked a significant milestone on Feb 17 by inaugurating new international cargo routes to Yangon, Myanmar, and Dhaka, Bangladesh.
These routes are the latest additions, following the launch of routes to Kolkata, Delhi, Karachi, and Moscow in 2023 and 2024. The new routes mark Guiyang's first foray into Southeast Asian cargo transportation and extend its network further into South Asia.
Tianjin Air Cargo operates the Guiyang-Yangon and Guiyang-Dhaka cargo routes using Boeing 737-800F freighters, each capable of carrying 21 metric tons of cargo.
The flights are scheduled to operate four times a week for Yangon and five times a week for Dhaka, with the flexibility to adjust frequencies based on market demand to ensure efficient transportation.
Inbound cargo mainly consists of seafood such as crabs and eels, while outbound cargo includes garments, fabrics, flowers, electronic components, and machinery parts.
Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport has utilized its role as an aviation port platform, offering 24/7 efficient customs clearance services for international fresh products. The opening of the international cross-border center has improved the airport's e-commerce export platform, paving the way for a rapid increase in cross-border e-commerce exports.
Launching these two new routes will efficiently enable Guizhou's products to reach ASEAN and South Asian markets. They are expected to further promote the diversification of the regional economy, fostering economic growth and connectivity.
