Guiyang International Land Port has achieved a number of remarkable milestones in the first quarter of this year, setting new records in both cargo volume and container throughput.

The port handled 8,047 vehicles transporting 405,000 metric tons of cargo, a 67.7 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Container throughput also surged, reaching 8,553 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units), a 75.7 percent rise year-on-year.

The strong performance could be largely due to initiatives launched by the port and the Guiyang Comprehensive Bonded Zone, including accelerating the development of a strategic "Channel + Hub + Network + Platform" model.

This initiative aims to expand and enhance open trade channels, aligning with major national strategies such as the Belt and Road Initiative, the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor in Western China, and the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle.

During the first quarter, the Guiyang-Guangdong freight train completed 17 trips, while the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor train completed 18.

Additionally, the Guiyang Comprehensive Bonded Zone and Guiyang International Land Port are deepening their integrated "Zone-Port Linkage" development model. They are enhancing hub functions by co-developing combined ports with seven coastal ports, including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Beibu Gulf, and Zhanjiang Ports.

Plans are also underway to establish a "virtual customs gate" at the port and to develop a high-speed rail express base in its second phase.
