Guiyang boosts nighttime economy for summer season

Guiyang, celebrated as China's "Summer Resort Capital", is enhancing its nighttime attractions and services, drawing tourists from far and wide for the upcoming summer season.

When night descends, vibrant lights along the Nanming River blend seamlessly with the lively street atmosphere, creating a dynamic and captivating scene. Two prominent landmarks, Cao Zhuangyuan Street and Jiaxiu Tower, have emerged as popular nighttime destinations for visitors.

Cao Zhuangyuan Street, a newly popular area in Guiyang, has become a prime choice for summer night outings due to its unique blend of historical charm and modern trends. The enticing aromas of Guizhou delicacies, such as laoguo and siwawa, waft from the stalls, adding to the area's allure.

Li Hong, project manager of Cao Zhuangyuan Street, said that the area integrates Guizhou's traditional cultural heritage and ancient elements into its street market, thereby enhancing the visitor experience. During the May Day holiday, the street welcomed over 220,000 visitors, a 40 percent increase from the previous year.

Li added that the operations team is upgrading the market and planning roadside concerts. Starting in June, they will launch a "Food Season", offering discounts and incentives for out-of-town visitors.

Jiaxiu Tower also radiates charm under the night sky. As an iconic structure of Guiyang, the tower, illuminated by lights, complements the scenic views of the Nanming River.
