A culinary festival kicked off on May 17 in Guiyang, Guizhou province, marking the beginning of an exciting food and dining season. Central to this celebration is the 88 Market, which showcases Guiyang's rich culinary offerings in the vibrant setting of Colorful Guizhou Town.
Running until August, this festival offers a series of engaging events. Participants can take advantage of food vouchers available through the UnionPay App, with discounts including 160 yuan ($22) off purchases over 800 yuan, 100 yuan off purchases over 500 yuan, and 40 yuan off purchases over 200 yuan.
The 88 Market brings together renowned dining establishments and specialty snack vendors from Guiyang's 10 counties and districts, allowing visitors to savor a wide array of traditional Guizhou dishes and unique snacks, featuring both time-honored delicacies and intangible cultural heritage treats.
Authorities have also released the "Guizhou Food Guide", providing comprehensive recommendations across four categories: traditional dishes, specialty snacks, gourmet districts, and renowned restaurants.
It highlights famous Guizhou dishes such as sour soup fish and spicy chicken, alongside more than 100 unique snacks like siwawa (spring rolls). It features 10 distinctive food streets across the province, 106 nationally-rated diamond-level restaurants, and 39 time-honored dining establishments.
